This weekend I worked on outlining Equilibrium, the second in the Drayoom series, and got about half way through. Outlining is never a linear process, for me at least, but things are coming together nicely. Scrivener is awesome to work in, and I use its index card function to break out all the chapters and sub-chapters. At the top of each index card, I put from which character’s POV the chapter is told, and I find that this really helps determine how to best tell the overall story.

I took a break from outlining EQ to outline and to start writing a new short story/novelette called The Applicant (tentatively). This story takes place in the Drayoom world, but predates the events of Redemption. I’m only about 3500 words into it at the moment, but am hoping to get a rough first draft by the weekend.
